Dear Parents/Carers & Partners

As you may or may not be aware, Surrey County Council is proposing to significantly reduce its funding by up to 35% for Children’s Centre’s and re-shape its early help and early intervention services to families.

How will this affect your family?
The changes that are being planned could mean half of the Children Centre buildings in each area may be closed or the use of that centre changed. Staff could be redeployed to work out of the remaining centres, which will now be called “Family Places”. It is also highly likely that these closures will result in staff redundancies throughout the county leaving a lighter workforce to support families in need.

These changes may have a direct impact on your family, as support may only be available to families who have been referred through the Early Help process. This would therefore remove universal access for families to Parenting Puzzle, HENRY, Baby Massage, Dads Zone, Baby Group, Play & Learn at the Jubilee, holiday activities and Family Outreach for example.

We are very passionate about our Children’s Centre and the direct support given to families locally. Surrey County Council are inviting responses to these changes and we would encourage you to take this opportunity and give your feedback.

Please see the article below which explains the proposed changes to Children’s Centres on 'Get Surrey'

Please join us on Saturday 5th January 2019

Dear all,

It has been lovely to see so many old and new faces at our Dads Zone group these past few months.

It is clear the group has become phenomenally busy which is fabulous to see with so many accessing our services and how important they are to you all.

Sadly due to over capacity we have now had to make the decision to say that we are no longer able to have children over the age of five attend.  We are only funded for 0-5 year olds (children up to their 5th birthday) and we need to prioritise space for the under fives that fall within our funding bracket.

If you have any questions regarding the above please do contact me.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Juliea Morris
Children's Centre Manager
